Yes Mr Dukette was brought up in 1971 the FBI was looking for him two days later for the rate in California they communicate with Franklin PD they just assumed he was not in New Hampshire.

Ed Dukette was brought up in 1971 with the police but neither my sister Janet or I remember ever being asked about him back then. It was in 1983 that his name came up and I talked to the police about him.
Ed Dukette was suppose to be in prison in 1971 in NH for statutory rape at the time of Kathy’s death. The police assumed he was so he was not investigated further. In 1983 the detective called the prison to find out when he went in and was released and was told the date of release. He was in shock when they told him Ed was out at the time of Kathy’s murder. I was in the room with the detective the day he called. I remember the look on his face and saying somebody dropped the ball in 1971 on that one. He couldn’t believe that someone didn’t make sure that Dukette was in prison during that time.
Sadly to say, that was a huge mistake made in the investigation in 1971.

dear karen, my mother, muriel collins dyment, who at one time was your mothers sister marys sister in law! this case has followed me all my life. I was just 11 and living in North Hampton, NH at the time. The Collins family had a terrible family accident in which my grandmother and aunt were killed. maybe it was my age that your young sisters death had such an impact on me.I thought of Kathy more than I thought of my own family! We had to move to franklin to take care of my mothers youngest sister who was also in the accident, she was left paralyzed and in a coma for 2 months. when she came home from the hospital, my mom and I cared for her.I remembered this horrific crime as though it were yesterday. I pleaded with my mother not to move to Franklin! but we did and I was always praying they would find this animal who snuffed out her life way too premature. my heart has ached for you over the years, and was so glad when my mom told me you wrote a book. keep on believing in the lord, because we know he is the ONLY one who knows who did this to your sister. you’re a beautiful woman, and Im sure Kathy is looking down on you with appreciation and admiration.

I live in California now but was living in Nh in 1969 when my best friend, Debra Horn was murdered. Her case has never been solved. My prayers go out to your family that one day they will solve Kathy’s case, and many other NH cases. I would love to order your book. Is there a website for ordering it?
Thank you. I hope the Cold Case Unit is able to become a permanent agency. In doing approximately twenty-five interviews for the sequel to A Child Is Missing, I’ve realized how much money comes into play in an investigation. I am proud of the Cold Case Unit and what they’ve done but I do believe if the monies were available so much more could be accomplished. Right now they are lacking prosecutors and a couple of arrest are on hold. Sadly, this makes the Unit look less valuable than they really are.
I know about the Debbie Horn case. When the Homicide Unit was looking into her case in 2005 Kathy’s name came up. Someone had given them information about Debbie’s murder that maybe connected to Kathy. It didn’t pan out and the connection wasn’t made.
I’m sorry about your friend Debbie, we never do get over it do we? I know there is friends of Kathy’s that still struggle with her murder just as her family does. I think of young Celina Cass that was murdered not long ago and an arrest has not been made. I hope that she does not become another one added to the unsolved murders in New Hampshire.

When is the sequel coming out? I am a born and raised Franklin resident and have heard about Kathy all my life. My mom was the same age as her and has talked with me about it my whole life. I read the first book and can’t wait to read the 2nd one. I just wish it had a happy ending. Her name is still brought up often in this city. She may be gone, but she has never been forgotten.

Her life will make a difference for a many years because her story is being told all over the United States. When I speak to detectives they tell me how affected they are because of Kathy. They are motivated to try harder and realize how important it is to not give up.
I’m still working on the sequel. It’s been difficult writing. Over six years of research and interviews has gone into this book. It’s been accepted by Tate publishing and they are waiting for it to be finished and begin the editing. I’m hoping to have the writing finished in five months and then the editing begins. It’s grueling, lots of subtractions, additions and rewriting. It’s be at least another year before the sequel comes out. I’ll keep everyone updated on this website. Thanks again for asking.
