Yes Mr Dukette was brought up in 1971 the FBI was looking for him two days later for the rate in California they communicate with Franklin PD they just assumed he was not in New Hampshire.
You are so remarkable to have acheived all that you have from writing the book on your beloved baby sister Kathy to the huge accomplishment of being responsible for the long battle of bringing The Cold Case Unit here to the State of New Hampshire. It was a real pleasure meeting you and your other sister on Victims Rights Day at the ceremoney in Concord, NH.
All members of The Greater Lakes Region Chapter Parents of Murdered Children thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your awesome generous donation.! When you are in the area of Laconia and Franklin again I hope we can get together. Heartfelt prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family. Carmen Doucette, Chapter Leader
Thank you Carmen, we all do what we can to make a difference. It was a pleasure meeting you too. Thank you for all the work that POMC does. I thought it was fitting that the Unit did a press release on Victims’ Rights Day about the arrest of two men in the 1988 double homicide. Take care and see you next year.

Ed Dukette was brought up in 1971 with the police but neither my sister Janet or I remember ever being asked about him back then. It was in 1983 that his name came up and I talked to the police about him.
Ed Dukette was suppose to be in prison in 1971 in NH for statutory rape at the time of Kathy’s death. The police assumed he was so he was not investigated further. In 1983 the detective called the prison to find out when he went in and was released and was told the date of release. He was in shock when they told him Ed was out at the time of Kathy’s murder. I was in the room with the detective the day he called. I remember the look on his face and saying somebody dropped the ball in 1971 on that one. He couldn’t believe that someone didn’t make sure that Dukette was in prison during that time.
Sadly to say, that was a huge mistake made in the investigation in 1971.
Thank you for your comment. There are still others involved and we hope that someday they will be charged.
Karen,
There have been so many times thru the years I have wondered what happened to you..how you’ve been..
and if we would ever see justice for Kathy.
I know that for us Cotes it has been close to our hearts
and prayers that some day you, your family ,and all of ours will
find an answer and peace!
Marie
Thank- you for keeping Kathy’s memory and desire for justice in your hearts. After all these years, it’s still hard to grasp what happened to her. I miss her so much. I’ve envisioned many times what she would have been like if she had been given the chance to grow up.
I feel for her classmates and friends who have gone through the pain of losing her and are still affected today.
Hi Gordon,
I’m so glad you contacted me, I’ve been wanting to get in touch. I sent you an email through my gmail. Your very welcome, you have always been concerned that someday Kathy’s case would be solved and it will always be remembered. You are mentioned in my acknowledgments in the book.
Hope you are well,
Karen
Hi Karen,
It was nice meeting you at your book signing at the Franklin
Library. Thank you for taking the time to talk with me about
Tate Publishing. Your suggestions will help me to have Silent Hills, my book about five unsolved murders in NH’s
White Mountains, be published.
I found your book to be a poignant look into what your family
has endured in the aftermath of Kathy’s murder. May her murder, along with the other unsolved murders in NH, be
solved!
God Bless!
Carolyn
Hi Carolyn,
Your welcome, it was nice talking to you. Sorry you had to wait so long, it was a little crazy. Good luck with your book and getting it published.
I believe with the new Cold Case Unit that my sisters and I fought for, will help in solving some of these unsolved murders and give families the answers they’ve been waiting for.
Let me know when your book comes out! 🙂
Thankful for a God who knows,
Karen
I think of your family often. I will never forget that day . I only wish that it was done and over with so that your family could have peace. My mother was one of Kathy’s teachers and she recalls that day often. My prayers and my mothers prayers are with you forever. I would so like to get a copy of your book. I would just like to know how i could get one, please let me know.

Kathy,
Thank you for your comment. There are so many that will never forget that day and we continue to fight, especially now, for Kathy. Our time will soon be up as many that were involved will be passing on to eternity. We have hope, there has been new information. We are so proud of the Cold Case Unit and having a part of implementing it. I believe that it gives all of us with unsolved murders new hope.
You can get a signed copy of the book on http://www.karenbeaudin.com Please tell your mom I said hello.

Not sure if you remember me but I did your hair while you lived in Arizona. I would like to get your book but I thought you had said you would be doing a book signing in AZ is that still true? Because if that is so and it is soon I will get a copy then. However if you are not coming here soon for a signing then I will just get now. Can’t wait to read it, hope all is well with you and your family!
Hi Tanya,
It’s so good to hear from you. I hope all is well with you and all your family. I miss Arizona and my hairdresser! If I get to Arizona, it won’t be for a while. Ordering it through me would be the quickest way to get it and I will sign it. Tanya, I appreciate your support.
Take care,
Karen
dear karen, my mother, muriel collins dyment, who at one time was your mothers sister marys sister in law! this case has followed me all my life. I was just 11 and living in North Hampton, NH at the time. The Collins family had a terrible family accident in which my grandmother and aunt were killed. maybe it was my age that your young sisters death had such an impact on me.I thought of Kathy more than I thought of my own family! We had to move to franklin to take care of my mothers youngest sister who was also in the accident, she was left paralyzed and in a coma for 2 months. when she came home from the hospital, my mom and I cared for her.I remembered this horrific crime as though it were yesterday. I pleaded with my mother not to move to Franklin! but we did and I was always praying they would find this animal who snuffed out her life way too premature. my heart has ached for you over the years, and was so glad when my mom told me you wrote a book. keep on believing in the lord, because we know he is the ONLY one who knows who did this to your sister. you’re a beautiful woman, and Im sure Kathy is looking down on you with appreciation and admiration.
Dear Kathleen,
I want to express my appreciation for what you said. It means a lot to me to hear from others that have been impacted by Kathy’s murder. All of us missed out on knowing the beautiful woman she would have become. When I speak at my book signings, I talk about murder and how it follows a family throughout their life. It is not something you can package up in a box and neatly put on a shelf. I’ve learned to live in the new life that was forced upon me and somehow through it all, hope I’ve made a difference. My faith has played an important role. You are right, God knows……
Again, thank you for contacting me and I pray your life will be filled with purpose.
Karen
Karen, Just wanted to say thank you for all your work getting these NH cold cases opened up and looked at again. I live in California now but was living in Nh in 1969 when my best friend, Debra Horn was murdered. Her case has never been solved. My prayers go out to your family that one day they will solve Kathy’s case, and many other NH cases. I would love to order your book. Is there a website for ordering it?
Thank you. I hope the Cold Case Unit is able to become a permanent agency. In doing approximately twenty-five interviews for the sequel to A Child Is Missing, I’ve realized how much money comes into play in an investigation. I am proud of the Cold Case Unit and what they’ve done but I do believe if the monies were available so much more could be accomplished. Right now they are lacking prosecutors and a couple of arrest are on hold. Sadly, this makes the Unit look less valuable than they really are.
I know about the Debbie Horn case. When the Homicide Unit was looking into her case in 2005 Kathy’s name came up. Someone had given them information about Debbie’s murder that maybe connected to Kathy. It didn’t pan out and the connection wasn’t made.
I’m sorry about your friend Debbie, we never do get over it do we? I know there is friends of Kathy’s that still struggle with her murder just as her family does. I think of young Celina Cass that was murdered not long ago and an arrest has not been made. I hope that she does not become another one added to the unsolved murders in New Hampshire.
You can order the book from me: http://www.karenbeaudin.com these are signed copies http://www.tatepublishing.com http://www.amazon.com
It should be available on any other sites that sell books. If your local bookstore doesn’t have it on the shelves that certainly can order it.
Thank you Carol for contacting me. I have prayed for Debbie’s case to be solved and will continue to do so.
Take care,
Karen
When is the sequel coming out? I am a born and raised Franklin resident and have heard about Kathy all my life. My mom was the same age as her and has talked with me about it my whole life. I read the first book and can’t wait to read the 2nd one. I just wish it had a happy ending. Her name is still brought up often in this city. She may be gone, but she has never been forgotten.
Thank you Tina, it is comforting to know that people remember her. That’s one of the reasons I wrote the book. I wanted people to know her long after I’m gone. Her life will make a difference for a many years because her story is being told all over the United States. When I speak to detectives they tell me how affected they are because of Kathy. They are motivated to try harder and realize how important it is to not give up.
I’m still working on the sequel. It’s been difficult writing. Over six years of research and interviews has gone into this book. It’s been accepted by Tate publishing and they are waiting for it to be finished and begin the editing. I’m hoping to have the writing finished in five months and then the editing begins. It’s grueling, lots of subtractions, additions and rewriting. It’s be at least another year before the sequel comes out. I’ll keep everyone updated on this website. Thanks again for asking.
