NATIONAL VICTIMS’ RIGHTS WEEK: APRIL 18 – 24, 2010
“FAIRNESS. DIGNITY. RESPECT”
Dear Friends,
This year, April 18 – 24 has been designated as National Victims’ Rights Week. This is a time to pay tribute to those citizens who have been victimized by crime and to celebrate the strides that we have made in recognizing the rights of victims in our state and around the country. It is also a time to contemplate ways in which the occurrence of violence can be prevented and reduced in order to decrease the number of future victims.
On Tuesday, April 20th, 2010, Governor John Lynch and Attorney General Michael Delaney will officially proclaim Victims’ Rights Week in New Hampshire. A press conference will be held at 11:00 am in the Parish Hall of St. Paul’s Church, Park Street in Concord (next to the State House). The Clothesline Project, sponsored by the AmeriCorps Victim Assistance Program, will be unveiled along with a new Victims Memorial Quilt sponsored Victims Inc.. We invite you to join us at this event.
At 5:30 pm, also on April 20th, a memorial service to pay tribute to all those who have been traumatized by violent crime will be held at St. Paul’s Church. Following the memorial service, a reception for all victims of crime will be held in the Parish Hall.Victims, family members, friends, supporters, legislators and the general public are all invited to attend all of these activities. If you would like additional information, please call 271-3671. Your participation will enhance the poignancy and meaning of these events for all. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Sandra Matheson, Director
Office of Victim/Witness Assistance

A Child Is Missing exposes the reality that murder follows a family throughout their entire life. Future events often loop back to the day when a loved one's life was taken by the hands of a murderer.
Karen's sister Kathy was murdered in 1971. The case was reactivated in 1983 and again in 2004. In 2006 Kathy's remains were exhumed for DNA. A Child is Missing: Searching for Justice is the sequel to A Child Is Missing, it covers the reopening of Kathy's investigation in 2004 to present date. Karen interviewed over fifty people for the sequel and acquired new information from retired investigators.
