Today Governor Lynch signed the bill to establish the cold case unit. Ann, Janet and I were there to see this historic event take place. We were invited by the Governor to attend and witness the signing. It was rewarding for all of us that saw the importance of the bill and fought for the cold case unit.
Lieutenant Horak was in attendance, he is the retired police officer that has written two books about the murders of two young women in Candia NH. The passion to see these cases solved burns within him even today. It was his passion that inspired Representative Hinkle to begin the process of pushing for a cold case unit in NH. After signing the bill Governor Lynch asked who should receive the pen he used to sign the bill. Representative Hinkle? The Gloddy family? I held a hand out toward Lieutenant Horak and said, “this man, he should receive the pen. After all, it was because of him the inspiration for the cold case unit all came about.” So the Governor presented Lieutenant Horak with the pen, the pen that signed the “Bill of Hope” a bill that gives all of us hope that one day the murder of our loved ones might be solved. And with tears he graciously accepted. Lieutenant Horak, you are a Warrior and admired by many. Your passion inspires us all to fight the good fight and to never give up.
The Gloddy Family presented Governor Lynch with a hat embroidered with, “New Hampshire Cold Case Unit” on it. As I leaned towards him I whispered, “now if you don’t mind I have 10 others I’d like you to sign” He chuckled and said, “of course not, I’d be happy to.”
It was a good day for the Gloddy Family. Even if Kathy’s case never gets solved, someone’s will and all of us will be happy for them. The Cold Case Unit WILL PROVE THEIR WORTH…..
A NOTE ABOUT THE 20/20 AIRING: WE HAVE HEARD THAT KATHY’S STORY WILL BE AIRED SOMETIME IN OCTOBER NOW. THEY FEEL THAT KATHY’S STORY NEEDS MORE TIME SPENT ON IT BECAUSE OF HOW DETAILED IT IS. THEY HAVE EXPRESSED THE DESIRE TO WANT TO DO IT JUSTICE AND WOULD LIKE TO DO MORE INVESTIGATION ON IT. THOUGH IT WILL TAKE LONGER TO AIR WE FEEL AS A FAMILY THAT THE DECISION IS A GOOD ONE FOR KATHY AND THE STORY SHE HAS TO TELL.
